	Housed within a 19th century building, steeped in character and history, this small famil-run hotel is ideally situated just 500 metres away from Newmarket's bustling High Street. In 1895, a gentleman of a rather dubious nature, known as Gordon Chetwynd, sold what was known then as Rutland Cottage to the 5th Earl of Cadogan. The Earl numbered amongst his closest friends Edward, Prince of Wales, later to become King Edward VII. Rumour has it that the king himself became a frequent visitor to the hotel and entertained the beautiful Lilly Langtry here. Secret passages are said to exist between Cadogan Hotel and the king's quarters at Palace House.
