Booking information for Brookside Farm

Brookside is a fine traditional Grade ll listed stone farmhouse, sitting on the edge of New Radnor village. Sympathetically furnished with old and antique furniture, it retains much of its charm and character with beams, oak floorboards and winding staircase. Bordered by a small stream, it lies beneath the ‘Castle Mound’ the site of a former Norman Keep. Part of the house originated from the 16th century and the newer Victorian frontage overlooks the mature enclosed south facing garden, well stocked with cottage plants, rose bed, two lawns and a hot tub for guests relaxation and enjoyment.
Within the local area is Offas Dyke for excellent walking. Opened in the summer of 1971, this scenic path links Sedbury Cliffs near Chepstow on the banks of the Severn estuary with the coastal town of Prestatyn on the shores of the Irish sea. It is named after, and often follows, the spectacular Dyke which King Offa ordered to be constructed. Along its 177 miles, it passes through eight different counties and crosses the border between England and Wales over 20 times. The Trail explores the the border region (known as the tranquil Marches) and passes through the Brecon Beacons National Park on the spectacular Hatterall Ridge. It also links three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the Wye Valley, the Shropshire Hills and the Clwydian Hills.
Apart from the wonderful walking opportunities afforded in the area, cycling and golfing are also available for visitors. There are lovely rural pubs to sample and two notable restaurants are within easy reach (7 miles at Kington). For lovers of fine food, the much-acclaimed Ludlow boasts several Michelin star restaurants, where visitors can also admire almost 500 listed buildings, many of which are half-timbered black-and-white houses. Brecon, Hay-on-Wye and Hereford are all within comfortable driving distance. Shop 300 yards.

Dolgenau - The Cottage , Caersws
Click here for more about Dolgenau - The Cottage

Price: £ 600 - £ 899

Sleeps: 5

Booking information for Dolgenau - The Cottage

These two Welsh country cottages were originally built as a barn and cottage in the 17th century. They have been carefully converted, combining their interesting features with comfort, and making good use of pretty cottage-style prints, soft furnishings and some antiques, in keeping with their period character. Each has its own entrance and garden, and both these charming holiday cottages are tucked away from it all, offering peace, tranquillity and lovely south-facing views across the valley. This is magnificent walking and bird-watching country (many different species spotted in garden). The nearby Clywedog Lake provides good fishing and sailing, whilst excellent mountain biking facilities can be found a little further afield at Machynlleth.
Five miles away is the pretty market town of Llanidloes with golf, tennis, bowls, swimming, leisure centre and the newly opened Red Kite Centre, which boasts live transmission from nests in the Hafren Forest. The town’s fine architecture includes the town hall, the market hall, built on timber stilts, and two imposing 19th-century chapels. Good selection of pubs and restaurants nearby.
The coast at Cardigan Bay is only 45 minutes by car, a spectacular journey through glorious scenery across the Plynlimon mountains to the university town and lively seaside resort of Aberystwyth with its cliff railways and various cultural and entertainment diversions, or further north along the Dovey estuary to Aberdovey. Here, the coast with its sandy beach offers opportunities for canoeing, windsurfing and swimming, and beautiful walks can be enjoyed amid the nearby Plas Penhelig Gardens. There are miles of sand and shingle beaches to enjoy, backed by dunes along the coast to Tywyn. The slipway at Aberdovey makes it a popular sailing centre, also good for surfing, water-skiing and fishing trips. Shops 11/4 miles.
