Glenbeigh is just over 8 miles west of Killorglin, at the foot of Seefin Mountains (1,621 feet), where the Behy River flows into Dingle Bay. A big attraction of this village is the superb Blue Flag beach, Rossbeigh, a wonderful long beach with views across the bay to the Dingle Mountains. This beautiful, unpolluted beach provides superb conditions for swimming. It is wonderful to walk along, and its many mud flats on the eastern side provides some fantastic bird watching.

The mountains provide many walks, one of the finest being the Glenbeigh Horseshoe, so-called because of the shape of the mountain ranges from Seefin to Drung Hill. The scenery is magnificent and includes a series of glacial corries and lakes, which lie at the head of the Behy valley. There is trout fishing on Lough Coomasaharn, the largest of the lakes, and the Behy River.

More walking, climbing and fishing can be found at Blackstones Bridge and the Caragh River, about 3 miles from Glenbeigh via the Windy Gap - although the scenery on the way is so compelling that you may not reach your destination. Caragh Lake is a beautiful expanse of water 4 miles long, providing more stunning scenerty in its setting among broom and heather-covered hills and imposing mountains in the background.

A festival is held in Glenbeigh in August, when the town becomes lively with visitors, coming to watch or take part in races along the beach.
