On wet weather days these amazing views can still be enjoyed from the large, bright yet cosy conservatory. The sumptuous scenic delights can also be experienced from the delightful window balcony of the master bedroom where guests can unwind watching the ever changing light across the water. From the cottage a farm track leads to a sandy and secluded beach, which was featured in the film ’ The Governess’ starring Minnie Driver.

When you stay at The Shieling you will never want to return to the hustle and bustle of the mainland ever again. The only traffic delays will be due to a few errant sheep!
The views from some of the windows of this early 19th Century semi-detached cottage reveal magnificent seascapes across to the Kintyre peninsula. Whilst staying on the Isle why not take the short ferry trip from Lochranza to Claonaig and discover a piece of Kintyre to add to your memories. One of the most southerly Scottish Isles, Arran encapsulates the grandeur and majesty of Scotland but all packaged within an accessible area 19 miles long by 10 miles wide. Your holiday adventure begins on the ferry from Ardrossan with views of Goat Fell, Brodick Castle and the ancient and spiritual Holy Isle.
The Shieling can be booking independently or together with Achnacarry Cottage to accommodate the gathering of families and friends up to 12 people.

Situated in the village of Lamlash, adjacent to the owner’s home and only yards from the shore, this property offers stunning views over the sea to the Holy Isle. Lamlash has four pubs with restaurants, as well as two tea rooms and a pretty bay full of sailing boats. From here, you can hop onto a small ferry from the jetty to the Holy Isle. The cottage has a hilly garden behind and from the top, guests can enjoy splendid views of the village and the bay. Seals live on Lamlash Bay and other bays around the island, and can always be seen resting on the rocks. Arran is a fantastic place to see sea otters, as well as basking sharks and porpoises which are sometimes spotted. Close by, visit the natural cavern known as King’s Cave which inspired Robert the Bruce. Visit the famous standing stone circle at Machrie Moor, which is located in a stunning and mystical setting, on the flat valley floor with a dramatic mountainous backdrop; a photographer’s dream. There are many ancient pre-historic burial sites around the island, the most well-known is the Giants Graves in Whiting Bay. Lamlash is the ideal centre from which to visit these attractions and there is a very good bus service, should people not want to drive.
